Lexie Brown is a professional basketball player from the United States, currently in the roster of Seattle Storm in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Prior to joining the Storm, she played for several teams in the WNBA, including the Chicago Sky, Minnesota Lynx, Connecticut Sun, and Los Angeles Sparks. Lexie Brown was selected as the ninth overall pick by the Sun during the 2018 WNBA draft. She honed her skills in college basketball while playing for the Maryland Terrapins and the Duke Blue Devils.
Born Alexis Kiah “Lexie” Brown on October 27, 1994, in Boston, Massachusetts, she began her high school career at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida, where she contributed to the team’s first undefeated regular season. After transferring to North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Georgia, she guided her team to the state semifinals in her junior year and to the Class 5-A state championship game in her senior year.
Lexie Brown played college basketball at the University of Maryland. In her freshman year, she had an important role in guiding the team to the Final Four of the NCAA tournament, which earned her the moniker “Big Shot Brown”. Additionally, she was recognized with selections to the ACC All-Freshmen Team and the ACC All-Academic Team. During her impressive sophomore season, she averaged 13.3 ppg and garnered numerous honors, including All-Big Ten First Team, All-Big Ten Defensive Team, Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Academic All-Big Ten, and AP Third Team All-American. The Maryland team once again advanced to the Final Four, where they were defeated by the eventual champion, the UConn Huskies.
Lexie Brown opted to transfer to Duke University for her sophomore year. Following a season of inactivity due to NCAA transfer regulations, she earned a position in the starting lineup and contributed significantly to the Blue Devils’ resurgence in national prominence. In her junior year, Lexie Brown established an ACC record by successfully making 56 consecutive free throws and was honored as ACC Player of the Week on January 23, 2017.
Lexie Brown was selected by the Connecticut Sun as the ninth overall pick in the 2018 WNBA draft. She made her professional debut on May 20 against the Las Vegas Aces, contributing 5 points in 10 minutes of play. During her rookie season, she participated in 22 games, averaging 1.7 points over 5.6 minutes per game.
Following the 2019 WNBA draft, the Minnesota Lynx acquired Lexie Brown from the Connecticut Sun. In her new role, Lexie Brown became a key contributor off the bench, recognized as one of the primary scorers among the reserves. She achieved a career-high of 21 points on June 8 during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks, where she also made a season-best 5 three-pointers. This feat was matched in two additional games that season—on July 24 against the Washington Mystics and on August 20 against the Sparks.
On April 17, 2021, the Minnesota team released Lexie Brown from their roster.
Subsequently, In April 2021, she entered into a training camp agreement with the Chicago Sky. Although she was released shortly before the season’s opening game on May 13, she was re-signed on June 1. The Chicago Sky went on to secure the championship title that season.
On March 30, 2022, the Chicago Sky traded Lexie Brown to the Los Angeles Sparks. However, she endured the entire 2023 season while fighting with untreated and undiagnosed Crohn’s disease.
On February 14, 2025, Lexie Brown, along with the 26th selection in the 2025 WNBA draft, was traded to the Seattle Storm.
