Angel Reese, a native of Randallstown, Maryland, is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Reese, born on May 6, 2002, developed her basketball skills from a young age, learning the game from her mother and competing in a recreational league in Baltimore County.

Reese’s standout high school career came at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, where she was a four-year varsity player. By her junior season, she had earned scholarship offers from over 24 NCAA Division I programs, including Maryland, South Carolina, and Louisville, before ultimately committing to play for the University of Maryland.

Reese’s impressive high school resume included being named a McDonald’s All-American in 2020 and being ranked the number two player in her class by ESPN.

Angel Reese came to the Maryland Terrapins as the highest-ranked recruit in team history, but her rookie season in 2020/2021 was cut short by a fractured right foot. In her sophomore season, the Associated Press selected her a third-team All-American. Angel Reese moved to LSU for her junior season and was named a unanimous first-team All-American.

She led LSU to its first national title, and she was named Most Outstanding Player. Angel Reese established the NCAA and SEC single-season records for double-doubles and rebounds, respectively. As a senior, she was selected SEC Player of the Year and All-American.

The Chicago Sky chose Angel Reese as the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. During her inaugural season, she earned a spot as a WNBA All-Star and established a new single-season record for rebounds in the league.

On the international stage, Angel Reese debuted with the United States national team during the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup held in Mexico. In her inaugural match, she contributed 11 points and 9 rebounds, leading to an 80–54 triumph against Venezuela. In the quarterfinals, Angel Reese excelled with 13 points and 18 rebounds, aiding her team in a 68–49 victory over Colombia. Ultimately, she played a role in securing the silver medal, recording four points and six rebounds in the final, where her team fell to Brazil with a score of 69–58.
