Cecilia Zandalasini is an Italian female basketball player for Virtus Bologna of the Italian LBF and the Italian national team. She was the MVP of the 2016 FIBA European Women’s Under-20 Championship.
Cecilia Zandalasini was born on March 16, 1996, in Broni, Italy. She started in basketball as a kid and quickly showed her talent. While playing with Geas Basket, she won six Italian youth club championships.
Cecilia Zandalasini started her career in 2013, playing as a guard for Geas Basket. She led the team in points with a total of 314 across 20 games (15.7 PPG).
In 2014, Cecilia Zandalasini signed with PF Schio. In team, she stayed for 4 seasons, and in her third season with the team in 2016–17, the team won the Coppa Italia and reached the Serie A1 playoff finals. The team played in the EuroLeague postseason and she was MVP for the team with 13.5 PPG. In the 2016 European Women’s Under-20 Basketball Championship in Matosinhos, she was named best player of the event, leading the team to the final against Spain, where they won the silver medal. At EuroBasket Women 2017 she averaged 19.0 points (2nd in the event) and 9.6 rebs (3rd in the event) and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Cecilia Zandalasini was signed by the WNBA team Minnesota Lynx as an unrestricted free agent in August 2017. She was able to play only in the remaining matches from the current season and the playoffs. Showing her great abilities and her good talent, Minnesota Lynx re-signed her for the 2018 season. Cecilia Zandalasini became a breakout player during the season after a buzzer-beating play against the New York Liberty. Thus, she received more minutes of play and became one of the top players on the team.
In 2018, Cecilia Zandalasini signed a two-year contract with the Turkish women’s basketball club Fenerbahce.
Cecilia Zandalasini resigned with the WNBA team Minnesota Lynx for the 2020 season in a non-disclosed deal. However, she did not play any games for the Lynx during the shortened 2020 season.
In 2021, Cecilia Zandalasini signed a two-year deal with the Italian women’s basketball club Virtus Bologna, where is currently playing.
