Satou Sabally is a German-American professional basketball player for the Dallas Wings of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and Fenerbahçe of the Turkish Super League (KBSL).
Isatou “Satou” Sabally was born on April 25, 1998, in New York City, New York. She lived in Gambia and Germany as a kid and was discovered by a local coach in Berlin as a 9-year-old at a playground and began regularly attending practices.
Satou Sabally played college basketball for the Oregon Ducks. Despite having one remaining season of college eligibility, she announced in February 2020 that she would enter the 2020 WNBA draft. She was draft-eligible because she reached the league’s minimum age of 22 shortly after the April draft. During her first year for Oregon Ducks, Satou Sabally appeared in every game while averaging 10.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. She was named to the Pac-12 all-Freshman team and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
At the 2020 WNBA draft, Satou Sabally was selected by Dallas Wings. In her rookie season in the WNBA, she was named to the 2020 AP All-Rookie team. In her second season, she was named to the 2021 WNBA All-Star Game.
In 2020, Satou Sabally signed with Fenerbahce for the 2020/2021 season. After the undefeated in the Turkish Super League and finishing third in the EuroLeague, she extended her contract with Fenerbahce for one more year.
